Somatic Therapy to Increase Connection
“We’ve been trained to believe the lie that ignoring our body is somehow necessary for survival or success. But in a world that’s more interested in using our body rather than caring for them, disembodiment is a curse.”
-Cole Arthur Riley, Black Liturgies
Let me introduce myself.
My Approach
We all have relationships—with ourselves, with our bodies, with the world, and with the people in our lives. I’m deeply curious about these relationships. How do you speak to yourself in your mind? What parts of you tend to step forward when you’re stressed, overwhelmed, or trying to keep it together? What does your body feel like when you’re grounded versus when you’re bracing for impact? How do you relate to work, to rest, and to pleasure? Who do you allow close to you?
Together, we will explore these questions through the lens of your internal world—your thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and the protective “parts” that have helped you survive. My role is to help you build connection with these parts of yourself while also supporting you in coming home to your body. Over time, this creates more clarity, compassion, and choice in how you move through the world.
I primarily integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches help us understand how your story, nervous system, and internal parts are shaped by lived experiences, identity, and cultural context. With this understanding, we can begin to prioritize what you truly need, rather than what your stress or survival patterns demand.
I am especially passionate about supporting BIPOC professionals and students in staying grounded, joyful, and embodied while leading in their fields. It is deeply meaningful to walk alongside women and queer folx as they make sense of identity, navigate pressure and expectations, and challenge limiting societal norms. Above all, it matters to me that everyone I work with feels a sense of value, security, and belonging as they learn to meet themselves with grace.
